Rachael's Diaper/Tote Bag

This is a really great bag! Practical, attractive, a style for every season. Made specifically for my sister who does a lot of babysitting for a boy without a bag, this large tote is about 18" long X 12" deep X 5" wide. Her request was for a diaper bag stylish enough to pack around Baby's belongings, as well as hers.

The body is constructed of red duck, and the pockets are red-striped off-white duck. Both sides of the outside of the bag are identical. The striped material on the outside makes the pockets, divided by the straps (3 pockets on each side). I hand-stitched a blanket stitch around the edges (I also used french seams) to make it a little more ornate. This is fairly heavy fabric (like canvas), and the sides and bottom are structured with plastic sheets so it will not fall over or lose its shape.

On the inside of the bag, one entire side is two large pockets with a little more room for diapers and a change of clothing. The other side of the inside is smaller pockets--three shorter ones overlapping three taller pockets. This is a bag that will last for a long time!

I've also made this bag out of corduroy and cotton prints. (It looks just as good, is very sturdy, and the lighter weight material is kinder to my sewing machine!)

White Polar Fleece Baby Bonnets

These are just the cutest things! They are made from a pattern that my mother used to make clothing for my brother when he was a baby, back in the mid 1960s. True classic style!
I currently have 6 on hand. They are all constructed of white polar fleece, so they are incredibly soft and warm. No lining required (polar fleece is the same on both sides). Each is hand-embroidered with a unique design on the back, and I have put a blanket stitch around the face which matches the design on the back. Complete with a matching 1/2" satin ribbon drawstring to match the embroidery. The back of the embroidered design is covered with fusible interfacing, so you'll never worry about the stitching coming out! Sized 0-6 months.

The designs are as follows:

1. Light and dark blue snowflakes on back (these pictures are sideways--sorry!). Dark blue blanket stitch around face and medium blue drawstring ribbon.

Flatbags are Here!

This nifty idea was birthed out of necessity. I carry a diaper bag. When my daughter was left in a nursery or at home with Dad, I had to unload my wallet, notebook, a pen, chapstick, some change, etc, and ended up hauling around a handful of loose items. No more!! These bags are made to fit in tight places--in a bigger bag, in the pocket on the b ack of the seat in your car, between car seats, anywhere you have less than a couple of inches to stash something! They are structured with plastic sheets, so they're flexible but will keep their flat shape. 13" tall X 9.5" wide.

Currently I have three flatbags available, all pictured here. The outside of all three bags is red corduroy. They are all lined and decorated with different cotton fabrics (one pattern per bag), and all have two inside pockets.

This item is sold! (plaid homespun)

Two of the bags are the same in all but fabric pattern. The first is red, green, and brown plaid homespun, and the second is red viney leaves on light brown. Both have the same applique on the front--a square of red corduroy on a square of matching fabric--and one red corduroy pocket on the back. The straps are securely attached at the top of the bag with a square of reinforced stitching. Lining, straps, appliques, and inside pockets done in the same material per bag (plaid on one bag, leaves on the other).

The complementing material on the third bag is a vintage floral pattern with a brown background. It is colorful and earthy at the same time--very pretty. On this bag, the straps wrap all the way around the outside, and there are no other embellishments. The front and back are identical. There are two pockets on the inside, in the same brown floral pattern. (This material, as well as the green and yellow floral stripes I've used on another tote and purse, were in my late grandmother's fabric supply which dates back at least to the 1970s--authentic retro, and in perfect shape!)

Creme and Green Floral Purse

This is the cutest purse you'll ever carry! Made of creme and white woven cotton material and lined with beautiful, vintage green and yellow floral striped print. Closure is a vintage creme pearly button and flap that buttons over the top. Adorned with cuffs where the purse straps meet the body (of the same green and yellow floral print). Flat, approximately 8" tall and 12" at widest width. Comes with matching 8" X 5" wallet! Wallet has snap closure and button adornment on front. Flirty yet sturdy--absolutely adorable!

Belted Blue/Yellow Toile Tote

This is an adorable, charming little creation! 12 inches wide X 10 inches long, it's a perfect tote for the library, or anywhere! The belt (attached all the way around the top of the bag) and straps are a dark blue, lightweight denim-looking material, and the belt buckle is two D-rings. The fabric is blue and white print on a yellow background, and is scenes of families, couple, and groups picnicing and chatting outdoors. This bag is constructed with french seams, so there are no raw edges, and it is not lined. There is a one-inch hem around the inside top of the bag.

Belted Blue Toile Totes

These are very simple, charming little bags! 13 inches from top to bottom and 10 inches wide (a little bigger than a magazine), this is the perfect library bag, or small tote for just about anything. It is accented with a belt at the top of the bag (attached all the way around). The buckle is two D-rings. The belt and straps are dark blue cotton and have a look like nice denim (altho it is thinner than denim). The toile pattern is blue on an off-white background, and is titled "Farmland." The scenes depict people and farm animals in the various stages of bringing in a harvest.

These bags are not lined. The toile has about an inch hem at the top, and the bag is constructed with french seams, so there are no raw edges anywhere.

Handwash/spot clean when possible with cold water. Lay flat to dry.
